Description

How about a Catalina 30 with a rebuilt 21HP engine and transmission, brand new genoa, new standing rigging, and refurbished plumbing system with all new pumps.

She is a clean, inexpensive family cruiser that would be a perfect starter boat! She's in excellent mechanical shape for her age with shiny gel coat and newly refinished bright work.

Whether you are planning a weekend getaway in Narragansett Bay, or a cruise to the islands, this 30 footer is ready to accommodate. She features a roomy cockpit and comfortable interior with family accommodations.

Additional details

Interior

Catalina's are known for their interior spaciousness, and when you step inside you will see why. Sleeps 6 (or 7 if two folks are really in love!) Separate marine head (not a porta-potty!) with shower, hot and cold running water, and good standing headroom.

  • New fresh water pump 2014
  • New macerator pump 2014
  • New marine head 2014
Electrical and Mechanical

The Catalina 30 has two engine options, a 11 HP and a 21 HP. Serendipity has the desirable larger motor, and it was recently rebuilt. Transmission was rebuilt 2 years ago. When the new engine was put in all the hoses, exhaust system, muffler and so on were replaced as well.

  • Rebuilt engine and transmission
  • Two group 27 batteries new in 2014
  • Speed and depth instruments
  • VHF radio
On Deck and boat bottom

This is the desirable "Tall Rig" version of the Catalina, so it has many additional options that go with that; like adjustable back stay, bowsprit, and larger sail plan. The deck has no delamination and no issues, which is unusual in a 30 year old boat. It shows how well it was maintained by the original owner.

  • Self Tailing primary winches
  • Mainsail in very good condition
  • New  135% Genoa on furler  by Thurston Sails 2014
  • Adjustable backstay
  • Danforth anchor with chain and rode
  • Dodger in good condition
  • Standing rigging replaced 2011
  • Ballast rebedded 2011 and bottom barrier coated. (no Catalina smile!)
Broker's Comments

We bought this boat last season from the original owner. He has the original bill of sale from 1984! He sold it as he was nearing 80 and it was time for her to go to a new home. He did not add many amenities, but what the boat came with was kept up extremely well. We replaced the motor as it was very tired, and we refinished all the exterior bright work.

This is a boat that is turn key and ready to go. It needs nothing but the new owner's smile.
