ACCOMMODATIONS
While onboard, 80% of the time is spent in the cockpit. In the IP 40's 8-foot cockpit the helmsman's seat is raised, with back support, and affords a good view; the Edson steering gives good feedback to the helmsman. A shallow storage bin is under the port-side seating, and the starboard cockpit seat lifts to reveal a huge locker below. The table folds down and is compact enough to keep the cockpit open.
Below, the saloon feels like that of a much larger boat due to the table that folds up and away. Forward, the master cabin has a queen berth (Lewmar hatch screen in forward berth (2020) and its own head. Aft is a cabin with little headroom over the berth but ample standing headroom with a large dressing area next to the bunk . A second head is accessible from the saloon and from the aft cabin.
The U-shaped galley is well organized and large for a 40' boat and the fine joinery/craftmanship in the interior woodwork is typical of all Island Packet cruisers.
Centered between the galley and the aft cabin is the companionway with the engine room located under the steps. The engine is accessed on the port and starboard sides and by an access panel at the front. Removing the aft cabin cushions, provides access to the entire drivetrain. GALLEY
Raymarine Instruments are fully Integrated!
The Island Packet 40 has both 110 volt shorepower and 12 volt ship's electrical systems each with it's own breaker panel at the navigation station.
"Lucy Loo" has a modern, high aspect ratio, cutter rigged sail plan. All sails are furling including the main.
The engine on this Island Packet 40 has been constantly upgraded and professionally maintained to the highest quality and it shows.
